Smart Material introduces a new 105 µm piezo fiber composite with a 45% ceramic fill factor, specifically developed for higher-frequency ultrasound and acoustic transducer applications.
The new 105 µm / 45% composite is designed for operation in the 1–10 MHz range. Compared to thicker fiber composites, the reduced thickness supports shorter wavelengths. In combination with the 45% fill factor, this leads to reduced lateral modes, resulting in improved vibration behavior and a more predictable acoustic response — an important advantage for precision transducer designs.
Alongside this new product, the Smart Material fiber composite portfolio includes:
105 µm fiber composites with 35% fill factor, suitable for 1–10 MHz
250 µm fiber composites with 65% fill factor, designed for frequencies up to 5 MHz
800 µm fiber composites with 25%, 48%, or 80% fill factor, optimized for low-frequency applications up to 1 MHz
All Smart Material fiber composites are engineered for ultrasound and acoustic transducer applications requiring controlled modal behavior, efficiency, and design flexibility, with different thickness and fill factor options enabling tailored solutions across a wide frequency range.
