MFC P2 type – Piezo Electric Harvester (PEH) Patches

The P2 type MacroFiberComposites™ (MFCs) are especially designed for energy harvesting applications. The P2 type MFCs feature a high electric source capacitance and increased electric charge generation.

MFC P2 type – Piezo Electric Harvester (PEH) Patches

The MFCs are based on piezo electric fibers and are environmentally sealed, which yields increased flexibility and robustness compared with standard, monolithic piezo ceramic harvesters.

Due to the piezo fiber design of the P2 type MFCs, the MFC piezo harvester has a preferred direction for coupling strain into the device for energy generation. The preferred strain direction (compression) is parallel to the fiber axis. The fiber axis is parallel to the length of the respective MFC model, as listed in the table below.

MFC P2 type available piezo electric generators

– anisotropic, active direction for charge generation parallel to fibers
– max. absolute strain 1200ppm
– max. sustainable strain as energy harvester 600ppm
– thickness 300µm

Please note: All above listed MFCs are shipped not attached to any structure for proper strain coupling. In order to generate energy from strain the MFC needs to be bonded to a material of your choice. Please check out our FAQs, Tutorial or Download section for proper bonding instruction.
